When it was close to the end of my eighth grade year, I knew I had to choose a high school that would most benefit me. When I was deciding which school to go to I had to choose between many different places throughout the county like Ventura High, Buena, Villanova, Cornerstone, Oaks Christian, Foothill, and St. Bonaventure. In the end I decided to choose Foothill. I Chose Foothill because it seemed like a better learning environment and was still close by, while the statistics didn’t lie about the test scores being very high.
When looking at the different schools I noticed that each seemed to have it’s own special quality. When looking at Ventura High I saw that it’s specialty that I noticed right away were the variety in the sports teams. When looking at Buena I saw that it had a big campus and had more extracurricular activities. When looking at Villanova I saw that the scores were extremely high and had many great reviews. Cornerstone, well I didn’t really do too much research to know that I didn’t want to go there. Oaks Christian Seemed like an excellent choice because it had high test scores and was very well known. Foothill was close by, had a clean campus, high test score, and nice teachers. Finally St. Bonaventure was a school that wasn’t really interesting to me so I kind of crossed it off from the beginning.
When it finally came time to choose a high school I started to look at the cons of each school. Ventura and Buena High were extremely crowded so I was hesitant coming from an extremely small school, which made me cross them off my list. When looking at Villanova and Oaks Christian I had to turn them down because they were extremely far away and would become a burden to go there everyday. So the only school that seemed practical and still had a good education was Foothill Technology High School.
My choice to go to Foothill was really based on what I wanted to do. My parents would support me on whatever school I chose. This really widened my choices but Foothill really seemed like the best choice. After talking to my parents and everyone agreeing, we filled out the forms and hoped for the best. Thankfully we made it in and the excitement filled our house (only for the moment).
The school is not only clean and has friendly staff, but the statistics showed that the education given here is very much dependable. My choice to go to Foothill was not taken with regret. In fact I enjoy this school very much and all of it’s awesome qualities. Having a few friends that are also going here helped me get to know more people and places around this school. This year has already had a great start so I’m hoping it will continue on.
